Wow! There has been so much emphasis on growing your business from us, here at The Informed Entrepreneurs. I can't tell for sure, the reason(s) for this focused posts on marketing for businesses since the beginning of this year, 2017, but one thing that is most relevant is that, this aspect of the whole business operation, is key to the success of every business organization - without which, nothing much can be achieved, in lieu of the overall strategic goal for any organization. Let's just conclude by saying that there is the renewed zeal for entrepreneurs or business owners to move on this year and get things done in some ways that have never before seen, and I hope that is your desire. Everyone, entrepreneur or a business owner is a manager - managing his/her time, talent, treasures and tasks, daily in life. Thus, for the curious managers, this post will help boost your arsenal of ideas and innovations.
Here are forty (40) marketing concepts for the creative mindset that can help your small-medium-scale business, both for short-term and long-term vision. This is sub-divided into five (5) phases:
Phase One: The Old-school Marketing Methods - These simple but tested concepts will help your business in ways immeasurable and you won't regret using them, all the way, to grow your business
- Conduct a competitor's analysis to lay out your position in your target market.
- Narrow your niche and create a customer avatar in line with your vision and strategic goal.
- Develop a referral program and share it with the clients and customers who once or regularly patronize your business.

- Ask your clients and customers for testimonials and share them in your website and social media accounts.
- Try having cold email potential clients and customers and do your best to bring your products and services to them.
- Send the clients and customers who ever patronized you some special and surprising gifts when possible - physical or e-gifts.
- Go all out and leave flyers at your local coffee or tea shops or key public places that are strategic to your target customers/clients.
Phase Two: Community and Collaboration - It will interest you to know that in a recent post, there was emphasis on collaboration and you can check back on that, but here are concise steps to achieve good result in this phase
- As much as you can, host or co-host a webinar or make a short video presentation and post it all over your social media accounts.
- You can also cross-promote with a business friend who is in the same sector as you but not much of a threat as a competitor.
- Try posting as a guest in an influential and widely known blog, column, platform on social media etc.
- Make sure you are seen, your business is known by commenting or contributing on other blogs feed, instagram feeds and Facebook group questions etc
- You can also find a non-competitor and team up to share some values and rewards in a collaborative manner.
- Ask a leader in your business sector to see if their waitlist will be referred to you or if there is a way you can work with or for them, thereby enriching your experience and expertise in some ways.
- Search for discussion threads of relevance to your business and solve a problem or question posed to show your value and expertise.
- You can also hold a workshop or seminar or in-person activities to make valuable contributions to the people and environment where you business exists.
Phase Three: Social Media Marketing - Again, this is an aspect that has been talked about in previous post, but at this point, the emphasis will be on practical concepts to achieve what has been discussed in this regard, previously. Here are the steps that should be taken to get things done and done well
- Focus on 1 - 2 social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and develop some solid strategy for your business.
- As simple as it be seem, try creating a Facebook page for your business and connect with your customers/clients in some ways.
- Then list your business as your work in your personal Facebook profile
- Join Facebook groups and make comments, answer questions in relevant fields and people will try to know more about you, thereby, seeing your business as your workplace.
- Do promoting other people materials or content that are relevant, in your business or personal Twitter account.
- Using key search, find questions directed at your industry on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.
- If you are using Pinterest, edit your boards so that they best describe your niche.
- Make sure you have Pinterest boards and pins that are relevant to your business, showing your products, services and then link such to important platforms such as your website or blog or sales channels.
