Leading or Managing Your Business: Does It Make Any Difference?

Last week, the post did some justice to the issue of persuasion, dishing out the six (6) elements of a persuasive style of leading or managing a business or organization, or in sales and marketing of a particular service or product. This week, the emphasis is deeply rooted in a closely related aspect of growing our personal and business potentials - addressing the difference between a business leader and a manager. What difference is there, between leaders and managers, in a business or work environment? Are leaders more effective and efficient than managers in business? Which approach would you take from either one - a leader or a manager? Does it really make any difference, as a business person or in pursuit of your entrepreneurial goals?

It is one thing to be a manager, but an entirely different issue to be a leader, especially, an effective and efficient leader - a leader, who challenges his or her team or group to attempt and achieve greater heights than the status quo, perhaps, more than what may be outlined in the team or organizational goal. Warren Buffet, once compared leaders and managers, and concluded that leaders effectively manages their employees, understand the business and as such as like a combination of the two! It is like saying, all good leaders can be great managers, but not all good managers can be great leaders. So, what difference does that make? Let us see to that effect.

...And the differences count on, and it will shock you to know that 60% of companies face leadership talent shortage, which lowers performance!

Another shocking fact is that, 75% of employees voluntarily leaving their jobs don't leave because of the work or workplace but they are simply leaving their bosses - managers! No wonders, leaders are more effective and efficient as they seek to enlighten their team or workforce of their role in delivering on the value proposition, making them to see the business as theirs. Are you in a start-up or been involved in a business currently or planning to do so? Now, it is the time to decide to be a leader before it is too late.
